(After David Byron left the band, auditions were held for bassist and lead vocalist positions since John Wetton decided to leave as well. David Coverdale (vocals) and Denny Ball (bass) auditioned together one day but the positions were given eventually to Trevor Bolder and John Lawton (see below). Other vocalists considered were Ian Hunter and Gary Holton)

    Gary Thain was the bass player for that album (and for that song of course!).

    1. Why was recorded at the same time as The Wizard - both featured Mark Clarke on bass. Gary did Not play on Why.

  5. Phil Lanzon was the organist in a Croydon, Surrey band called The Trogs before it morphed into The Bisons in 1965. He was then poached by The Subjects who merged with The Loose Ends in 1966.

  6. Bernie Shaw did not join the band til the beginning of 87 (maybe Xmas 86, at earliest), as the band were doing shows with Fontaine up until October, November.
